Hi XxRedVirusxX, I would think you'd have enough room in the engine compartment to do the swap, but you may run into problems with the ECM (computer). It may need to be updated with different calibration. Good luck!
i dont think so bc the srt-4 turbo is made for the 2.4 motors and the sxt has a 2.0
absolutely, word of advice, do the entire front clip, suspension, engine, trans, ecu, and sub-frame. actually quite easy if you have a doner car.
first off its a neon why the hell would you want to waste your money on that. second you have ad more then just a turbo you have to factor in room for the turbo manifold all the piping the intercooler etc. you best bet is to save your money and buy something better like an integra or 240sx
YEP! just need a wrecked srt-4 neon and you are there~! every thing bolts in and on.
Fred stop being an idiot. First of all, Neon SRT4s blow integras out of the water. In fact, they blow a lot of muscle cars out of the water. Just answer his question or shut up and stop being a tool.
You will need an adapter made by a guy on neons.org. His screenname is Maddog. He specifically makes adapters to bolt the SRT turbo and manifold to a stock 2.0L SOHC. As said before, you'll need piping and upgraded fuel management.
If you really want to do the swap the easiest route is to just get a wrecked SRT. Since you already have a NGC powered year (03-05 are all Next-Gen Controller) all you have to do is pull out your 2.0 motor, drop in everything from the SRT. And whatever you dont use from the wrecked SRT you can sell and make some money back. I know a few people personally that have done the swap.
its already been done. a neon sxt srt. matt misko did it. he changed the full front clip. and now u cant tell his car was a regular neon.
1. its not an srt4. but a sxt 4. 2. second i say him start this project from strach. he did most of it him self and it wasnt easy.
No it isn't possible. I have tried. I work at a chrysler shop. U would have to swap the whole engine over. Yes there is room but not very much.
And also the whole wiring and computerthat the 2.4L engine comes with.
Actually it is possible, you have to get an adapter to be able to put the 2.4 mani and turbo onto the 2.0 engine. I've even seen a 2.0 with the 2.4 turbo on it WITH the adapter. Most people do the whole swap because it gives them the larger displacement and it doesn't require you to do as much tuning after you get everything done. However the thing that needs to be kept in mind is that a stock 2.0 is not built for boost. New lower compression pistons, stronger connecting rods, larger injectors, intercooler and piping are just the beginning.
Oh, almost forgot, also need the ECU and wiring harness. However you will need to splice your stock harness together with the SRT harness and that becomes a nightmare for some people. I vaguely remember seeing somewhere online that sold spliced harnesses but I can't remember where it was. Ask the guys at modernperformance.com and neons.org as well as 2gn.org
the Turbofold, which is the exhaust manifold and the turbo from a SRt4 will work with the 2.0 engine but you would need an ADAPTER PLATE, Mattdog builds them..You can check for him www.2gn.org and the engine swapping is also possible, just need the whole engine and the SRT4 PCM..it all fits is the same car with different engines
Its dumb doing a legit SRT swap. It leaves no room for expansion. An srt-4 uses a turbofold. Its a Turbo, and a Manifold, in one cast piece. So, to upgrade the turbo, you're gonna need another manifold. Easiest, cheapest, and smartest way to do it. yank a 2.4 from a caravan or a stratus. Get Srt internals. (don't get forged rods from a store, srt rods ARE forged and are cheaper) And a dohc turbo manifold. you just need a side mount adapter from www.modernperformance.com You are now the same as a srt-4. A 2.4 Turbocharged engine. Doing it my way, you can keep your computer and not so much of a big headache. Though at some point you'll want MegaSquirt 1. look on the org for answers to questions like this. forums.neons.org that place is a library of info.
no the only parts that bolt on are the body panels the interior and the exhaust (cat back) the exhaust manifolds are different thus not allowing you to bolt the SRT turbo to the stock 2.0L the ecm does need to be changed otherwise the stock ecm wont recognize the boost......i have tried all the angles....the only way to use the srt engine parts is to buy the motor from sloboy motors.....i paid 2200 for the head and the block 3000 for the turbo upgrade kit from mopar and now just need to install the puppy into the lil sx that could.....good luck with your swap........
unfortunately its not the same as the srt the srt has oil injectors built into the block to allow for better cooling with a turbo swap you HAVE to change the computer or it wont recognize the boost an srt full motor is around 4000 fully done thats pretty cheap for 400+ hp n/a.....
I believe the only difference in th blocks is 1 inch of extra deck height to give you the extra displacement or atleast thats the way it is between the first gen and the srt-4
well my opinion is that foreign cars are no more than a pos. besides my neons daddy is a hemi road runner, that acura(honda's) daddy is a trail 90!
it has been done by several neon owners go to dodgeforums.com great place to find out some useful info on dodges..
you should do it it will be very easy everytihng will bolt on just swap it on it i work for chyrsler i one a neon 2000 im swaping engines right now
sorry but it will not fit you need to get a 2.4 L cylinderhead and intake manifold you can use de 2.4L head in a 2.0L engine i did it to my neon also i use the piston of a 2.4 L
srt4 dont have lower compression piston what arte you talking about?
Pay attention, I never said that the 2.4 had low comp pistons. I said he would need them as a lot of people tend to opt for low comp pistons when they swap up to a 2.4L. If you payed attention you would also notice I told him he would need stronger connecting rods, larger injectors figuring he was asking the question because he wanted to do it for the HP gains.
fyi the neon is a very reliable ive drove it from New Hampshie to Texas and back again with no problems and all ive ever done to it is the regular mantaince
I know it is possible but don't go overboard with boost on a stock 420a engine casting it has an amazingly strong bottom end but it will be dangerous to the pistons $500.00+ for a set try using a similar turbo (not part of manifold and a preengineered header(stock manifold works too but not as much performance) for your engine Requires some welding and retrofitting) this will leave plenty of space to install a short style cat converter(jegs carries) this will allow use of stock intake manifold and you can tuck the intercooler behind the bumperand the turbo piping can be snaked to the intercooler if you use a battery relocation kit
you do however need to recalibrate your computer and it will definately be worth it when you are done. I have seen upwards of 300 hp from stock block and modified head on na engine with tuned exhaust system porting and polishing as well as changing the cam but it is easier to just keep naturally aspirated engine and cheaper as well to build just clean the intake and exhaust manifolds up Smoothing the insides up (smoothing both internally (fuel injected)as well as the head USE A FLOWBENCH when doing this change your cam and exhaust design.

Hey Does anyone know where I can get a intake manifold for my 2.0 sxt. I hate the original one. I want a different one. Or do I need to get it custom made?
Will the trans from the srt4 2.4 bolt to the 2.0
