Any OBD trouble codes? If timing is off you should have one or more codes. If it just lacks spark or fuel you'll have to do some troubleshooting.

The battery is dead ,,, that's the clicking noise and if it started then ran the timing belt is on correctly .... sounds like it's running out of gas .... do you hear a low humming sound for about 5 seconds when you turn the key to Run? If you do that the fuel pump and if it stops then you probably have fuel

Battery is about year old. There is fuel. The only code is.... done... That's what it flashes by the odometer

Your probably not getting a spark ,,,,, the only way to tell is to pull a spark plug wire off and getting the end inside the boot to spark to ground while someone cranks the engine ,,, however you said the car won't crank so before you fix the problem you have to fix the starter
