Hissing/fan like sound under back driver door

When I turn my 2012 jeep grand  Cherokee off i
hear a fan or small motor sounds coming from
somewhere around my fuel tank(which is just in
front of my driver side rear tire and it has been
difficult to start lately hoping to fix my self any idea
where to start
