Jeep Liberty Heat/blower issues
Asked by Hnbertsch Jan 14, 2018 at 04:36 PM about the 2012 Jeep Liberty Sport
Question type: Maintenance & Repair
I have a 2012 Jeep liberty sport that is currently
having heat issues. Right now it will only blow heat
from the defroster vents on the dash. One of the
two defrost vents will blow cool air while the other is
blowing hot air. All of the other events however have
no airflow . I have replaced the blend door
actuator’s. I have also recalibrated them, so I know
those are not the issue. I’ve checked the engine
coolant, which is fine. I have checked both hoses
from the radiator to the firewall and our warm to the
touch intake and out. Does anybody have a clue
what’s going on with my jeep? It’s getting a little
older and costly trying to figure out what the issue
is.

The old ones worked fine, even replacing with new ones didn’t work...
sorry missed the part your already changed the actuator. Did you flush the heater core? does the box look deformed at all?

I am having the same issues. My 2012 Jeep heats up, but only blows the heat to the defrost. The dealership wants $1600 to fix. I am not paying that of course. So looking for a repair not as costly.

Hi, did you ever get an answer on this? My '12 Liberty is having the same issue. I flushed the heater core, thinking it was blocked, and it ran clear. I'm bringing it to my mechanic today, but from my explaining it over the phone, he was stumped.
Yes, we actually had to take it in to a mechanic. In a nutshell the whole dash had to come apart because it was the blend doors (not the actuators). Apparently this is a very regular problem for the liberty, I personally think it should’ve been listed for a recall but because it’s not “safety” related that won’t happen. All in all repair was $1800.
