Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 1987 BMW 325with 2.7. I am hunting a mechanical distributor to go into the side of the engine if they make one.  If they do, where can I get one?  All the fuel injection is gone and is running with a carburetor.  I am hunting a way to advance the timing.

You may be able to use a stock distributor but just don't connect it to the computer components. Most of these systems are just mechanical with a sensor to adjust them. I'm not 100% sure on this but it would be worth a try. You will probably not have any luck finding a true mechanical distributor for this vehicle.
