Why does my car shut off when I get on the gas?

When I cruise in my 2012 Nissan Sentra its completely fine but, when I step on the
gas to accelerate the car does a small jerk as if its about to start accelerating. then
when I step on the gas the RPM doesn't move at all and the engine does rev. Now
when I turn on the car the RPMs go up and down right around the 1000 mark and when
I try to put it in drive and accelerate it just dies sort of like a stall in a manual car?
Heard it could be a bad MAF and throttle body. Or the throttle body could just need to
be reprogrammed and finally heard it could be the camshaft. Any suggestions?
