Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have this car for 6 months now and the engine light came on 3 times.
The first time, I took it to the mechanic, and he said, I need to change the cylinder #3. It
cost me $90. After three weeks the light came on, I took it back to him and he change the
injector and clean other things "according to what he said". The third times, came on the
light today, I took it back to him and he said it must change the engine, because "he
thinks" there is oil leak in the engine not supporting the cylinder?
I did not buy it? and that why I am here want your help and educate me more if you have
faced this issue before?

I also want to add to that, the car now shake a little but when I reach traffic light or full stop for just a few second after that stop shaking and act normal. He told me that the car can be used for more than two year with no trouble at all. what do you think guys?

Best way to know if it is the engine and not something minor,is have the engine compression checked, this will answer the question you seek.

Go to O'Reilly's, Napa, Auto Zone, Pep Boys or any other place that sells automotive tools and buy a compression gauge. Go on line and find out what the compression should be for your particular engine. Working with another person, Start at #1 cylinder, remove the plug wire or magneto, and the spark plug. Check that cylinder and see if the compression is up to snuff. Put the plug, magneto or plug wire back in place and go to #2 cylinder. Repeat this procedure until you locate a cylinder that is bad. Then take the car to different mechanic and have this finding verified. It may be that the problem has absolutely nothing to do with the cylinder, but could be something else in your vehicle that is causing the problem.
