Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have always gotten lousy
gas mileage I met 14
miles gallon I do have
hills to come up-and-
down to town.
My husband passed and I
don't know what the heck
these guys did my car if
anything I had a
maintenance contract
that was up at 70000 and
now I'm at 74 should I
have spark plugs??

It would not hurt to change the plugs but they are probably good till about 100,000 miles. I would change the air filter and air up the tires if these have not been done recently.

Read your contract to know what was supposed to have been done.

Jim is right. Even with the OD off you should get better than 14. Is the check engine light on?

I want you to know how much I appreciate you giving me your advice. I will go to the dealer and find out what has been done as far as air filters but I have new tires

I get better than 14 in mountain driving in my 4WD F150 with a V8. I would have your car looked at by a good mechanic.

If you do nothing the OD is on. You have to push the button to turn it off and it will be back on once you turn the engine off and start it again. If it was off you would probably have an indicator on your dash light up.
