you blew a fuse under the hood. look at the #8 fuse (20 amp). If you replace it try starting again. if it blows again, replace it with a 30 amp fuse rock the car back and fourth in neutral and then try to start it. don't know why but it worked on my car.

it has something to do with the tranny locking the gear in the engine and the engine will not turn which puts too much of a load on the starter and blows the fuse.

It happened to my 2003 Dodge Stratus R/T and changed the fuse #8 and it started. Then I drove a little bit and it blew. So I went to Advance and bought a 30amp and put it in there. It's working now.

Chris was right on the money. #8 fuse under the hood was blown, replaced it with a 25 amp, had to rock it a bit and take it out of park, put it back in park and it started right up! Thanks!

Have an 05 stratus it wouldnt crack over and sounded like a dead battery but after changing the battery starter and alternator it turned out to be the ignition switch...if ur key is feeling lose in the lock cylinder or feels warm after u turn it off i would suggest going with this option first could save u a lot of money and a relatively easy fix.
