When you arm the alarm, does horn sound once or several times,or does it give a "chirping" type of sound?

It doesn't make any sound at all when arming the alarm. I don't know how long it has been doing this as I only recently bought the car.

OK, most cars will make an audible sound when you arm the alarm system, either a quick short horn beep or two, or an audible electronic chirp sound. They do seem to vary with changing years, and they used to make the sound as soon as you pressed the arming button. With my 2001 Honda accord, it still does the horn beep, but only if you press the arm button 2 or 3 times in succession. On my 2011 SantaFe, it will arm the system with one push, but will only make the chirp sound if you push it at least twice in rapid succession. I am suspecting the sound you are hearing is related to your alarm system, and either the batteries in the Key Fob are going dead, or it could have something to do with the key you are using. Possibly you are using the "Valet" key, or if there is a battery in the big black end of the key, that could be weak or dying. Sorry I cannot be of more help to you.

Hi sorry guys, apparently the loud beep I am hearing is probably caused by the Nokia blue tooth device which is fitted to the vehicle. I will see if I can get it disconnected and see if that sorts it.

You should be able to either dis_arm that or just change the setting on your cell phone to turn it off there. Evidently one or both of those are set to connect automatically when ever a bluetooth device is within range, and you should be able to turn that off on either one.
