Grand Caravan loses power going up hills

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

In the last week or so my GC has been losing power, mainly going up hills.  I hope
I describe it well... Going along level roads things seemed normal for a van with
170,000 miles.  Going up hill, though, it seemed to lose a lot of power, as though it
is skipping an ignition here and there.  After a number of "skips", it threw a CEL.  I
checked the code.  It said it was a misfire on cylinder 2.  It was about time to
replace the spark plugs anyway, so I did that yesterday.  (Aside--  since when does
the entire top end up an engine have to be disassembled just to replace spark
plugs?  Sigh...)  I also  cleaned the throttle body while I was at it.  I run Seafoam or
B-12 through it when the mood strikes, in this case less than 2 weeks ago.
Following the plug change, it does generally feel better, like a younger van, but on
the way back from a 10-mile store trip it had some of the same symptoms, but not
as bad as before.  But it seems like, at best, I've only partially solved the problem.

What should I look at next?

Ignition coils can break down under load, like accelerating to get up a hill. I'd check those next. Hope that helps! Jim
