Headlights burn out frequently
Asked by MRPORTER64 Mar 07, 2017 at 12:23 PM about the 2008 Subaru Tribeca Limited 5-Passenger with Navi
Question type: General
We've had our '08 Tribeca since it was new and have had to replace the
headlights frequently seems like once a year. Wondering if anyone else has
had similar issues and if so were you able to figure out / correct the problem?
Thanks Mike

either someone touches the bulbs when installing, they are not secure=moving around or have excessive voltage
Check the voltage at the battery engine running. It should be between 13.6 and 14.7 volts. If it is over 15 volts you have possibly found the problem.
Apparently a lot of people have problems with the Tribeca headlights --- https://www.cargurus.com/Cars/Discussion-t42139_ds512825
As F_O_R pointed out, it could be a design problem as well.

Thanks F_O_R it seems to be a design issue but the other discussion pointed me to a LED conversion kit!!! https://www.carid.com/2008-subaru-tribeca-led-lights/ Thanks Again!
Make sure the LED conversion kit you buy is guaranteed to work properly. Some have flickering issues and some do not light the road properly due to the reflector design in a particular vehicle. Your OEM reflectors are not really designed for an LED bulb. Some work really well and some don't. I would suggest joining an appropriate forum relating to your vehicle and doing some research.

They're on all the time and overheat in their confined space. as the bulbs are cheap just chase 'em as needed.

Check out other Subaru headlights forums. Same problems on different models.
