Replacing the engine in a durango with a dakota engine

Asked by wwelbourn Mar 25, 2015 at 12:40 PM about the 2004 Dodge Durango ST RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2004 Durango 2 wheel drive with a 4.7l v8.  Engine is blown. I can get my
hands on a 4.7l v8 from a Dakota quad cab 4wd.

The VIN on the Durango is:1d4hd38n54f
The Dakota VIN is: 1D7HG48N04S

Should this been an easy swap with no transmission change?  Will the wiring or other
parts need changing?

Any Help greatly appreciated.

it shoold be a easy swap, trans will bolt up,take pictures and compare the location of all the sub assembly's,my boss called it all the ginger bread, starter location, intake air location,alternator,a.c.that maybe your only concern, just don't give your core until you are done!
