I have a 04 Intrepid with a 3.3, 238,000 miles on it. I use conventional oil and have no problems. If you use synthetic oil, you shouldn't worry about sludge. Synthentic oils do not burn and create sludge until much higher temps then conventional oil.

i wouldnt suggest holding onto that 2.7L engine long. its notorious for having a lot of problems.
