2004 Ford Explorer Stalling

I have a 2004 Ford Explorer with a 4.0. The rig will start but idles rough. After a while of idling it will die and not start back for a few minutes. While it is running you can hold the accelerator to the floor and it will not climb above 2000 RPM. Any ideas?

Possible throttle position sensor bad, need to have it scanned
But not definitely. Had the same problem with a neighbors 4.0 engine. No light on the dash. Reading the codes indicate four cylinders were misfiring. Not to say your problem is related to a tune-up, just saying some codes do not light up the light.
I had that issue with my 96 mustang. Replaced the coil pack but that didn't fix it. Replaced temperature sensor that didn't fix it. What it ended up being was the fuel pump. It runs great after replacing that and have had no issues since then
Clean your MAF and throttle body, did the trick for me and ran great.
i have this same issue and am being told i have "2 dead cylinders" my father just did a compression test and i am getting 125, 160, 150, 125, 145, 130....is this normal compression readings? my codes state i have a massive emissions leak but have replaced everything the other codes state and still runs rough and burns gas. NEW: COIL PACK, EGR VALVE, FUEL THROTTLE SENSOR, FUEL RAIL...and many other...PLEASE HELP!
