Strange start up sounds in the morning?

Asked by gypsymc May 13, 2015 at 04:42 PM about the 2012 Honda Fit Base

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2012 Honda Fit and I have noticed that in the morning the car is having trouble
starting.  It makes a strange noise, like it is straining to start for about a second or two and
then it starts. Over the winter I heard a similar noise, but I attributed it to the extreme cold.
For reference, I park in a garage and I only hear the noise on the first start up of the
morning. I tried turning it off and back on to replicate the noise and it started fine.

Hi, I don't own a fit but have 40 some years driving experience. To me it sounds as it is starting cold even if it is not cold outside, the engine needs to get warmer from it's own heat. Lee
