Transmission fluid change on a 2012 camry 4 cylinder?

Asked by Luzmarie May 23, 2018 at 11:14 PM about the 2012 Toyota Camry SE

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

With newer cars they allegedly have
"lifetime fluid" and I saw that in my
manual there is no mention of
transmission fluid for my 2012 Toyota
Camry. I was wondering how to know
when I need a transmission fluid
change and how to do it?

Change it every 30 to 50,000 miles if you want the transmission to last.

I've drained a Camry at 112,000 and the fluid smelled burnt. If fleets are running without changes they must be using something better than Toyota WS fluid. If you want to keep you car long term change the fluids. I've run Camrys to 350,000 miles without transmission or engine issues but I always keep my fluids up. It's a cheap insurance policy and really not hard to do yourself. I've posted a procedure for D.I.Y.ers on RAVworld.com. Do a search for it.
