air conditioning blows out the defroster and floor only and not the dashboard

Sounds like a stuck mode door.
Every dodge I've ever had,has done the same thing. There is a vacuum line coming off the intake, that goes thru the firewall.Where the vacuum line goes into the firewall,it makes contact with the a/c lines and or the metal, and it crumbles. This is usually where you have a vacuum leak.BUT.. if you try to pull even a little vac line out of the dash, for an easy fix-- nope- it snaps, and goes back inside. Save yourself the trouble. Get 5 feet of new 1/8" vacuum hose, and fish it thru the firewall, downwards towards the floor inside.Disconnect the old vacuum line there, and place the new one. Get a flashlight and a piece of coathanger to look up under the dash and guide the new hose down. Then route it over by the gas pedal. Straight up from the gas pedal, there is a bundle of vacuum hoses- they are red, yellow, brown, green, and black. You are interested in the black one. take the yellow line off the actuator, located right there, so you can pull the bundle down. You will find a clear rubber block, where all the lines connect. Follow the black line about 3" past the block,( towards the passenger side) and cut it. It will now fit into your NEW vac line, and should restore your system. Dont forget to reconnect the line you pulled off. Barring any other needed repairs. nOTE-- i HAVE HAD MANY MOPAR PRODUCTS, AND HAVE NEVER HAD TO REPLACE AN ACTUATOR. iT HAS ALWAYS BEEN A VACUUM LINE PROBLEM.
Some of the newer Dodges use a purple line instead of black, so if you see purple and no black, just call it the same- it is the main line.
