key won't come out of ignition

when I shut off the engine the key won't come out

It probably is the key switch. Depending on the miles on your car and warranty coverage it should be covered under warranty. Call your dealer to find out.

It's been long time since the question is posted but this is what google results show so, for anybody with the problem - solenoid attached to the ignition might be faulty - it's right behind the ignition. Remove it and then you'll be able to take out the key even if not in P. That will help until you find the replacement - the darn thing doesn't even have a part number printed
