I have a 2012 gmc sierra with oem 275/55/20 on it.I added fender flares now need bigger tires.What is the largest tire i can go

if you have the 1500 series you can go up to a 33" tire without issue should be a 285/60r20 it equals to about 33.5"

you can try a 305/55r20 as well depends on how much lock to lock clearence is needed (305 is a very wide tire keep that in mind) 285 is the more common used tire
