where is the gas door release button in 2012 maxima?

not along the running board on the driver's side, simple pull up lever? Perhaps is automatic, with a solenoid what disengages the lock whenever the key fob is present.

When I had a bonneville, the only way to open the gas tank was to double click on the door opener, maybe it's the same ?

KBRO got it right! Thank you. The car must be unlocked and you simply press the door on far right center and it releases.
