I've been told I need CVT Transmission service on my 2012 Nissan Rogue at 96,000 kms. It's going to cost $649!! What is this for and is it necessary?

This is just for maintenance.  I'm not having any problems with my transmission
that I can tell.

A fluid change is a good idea but that cost is absurd.

This is directly from a Nissan dealer in Edmonton, Alberta. So you say crazy?? What should it cost me?

I cannot say for sure but under $100 would be reasonable. It just takes a few quarts of fluid. Repair Pal says $44 to $56.

Call them or another Nissan dealer and ask them what a straight fluid change costs.

He has known about this problem with 2012 CVT transmissions. They are complete disasters. They are covering up this issue. They’ve extended warranties for other years except this one. You were lucky but yours is less than $1000 most people are hit with a charge of it up to $4000
