When do Dodge Dakota (2003) engines typically die?

Hi, thinking of buying a used 2003 Dodge Dakota with 182000 kms on the
engine. It supposedly runs fine, my only concern is if anyone knows when
dakota engines usually die? Would this be a wise investment?

They don't exactly have an "expiration date" or mileage they die at, it all depends on how well they were maintained. I've driven a Dodge to over 300K miles (which i guess is 482K kms) but I've also had trouble with one with a third of that mileage. My suggestion to you is to treat this like what it is: a high-mileage car that may be due for a lot of service interval part replacements, and if you can't do these yourself in a cost-effective way, then to pass on the car and keep looking for something with lower miles. er kilometers. PS: don't ever trust a seller, you really want to take it to a mechanic for inspection before plunking down your hard-earned cash.

I have a 03 Dakota 4 wheel drive. It has over 300k miles on it. And the only motor trouble I've had was the water pump went out twice which one time was my fault for going muudd'n . I changed the oil at around every 5k miles or so and the plugs like once every 2-3 years. It still runs good just a little lose of power just like any older truck.
