cvt is making a whining noise that comes to a stop when car stops, had the
fluid and filter changed and the whining stopped for about 3 weeks but started
up again. About 6 months ago I had the transfer case seal replaced because
of a leak. Any thoughts on what it might be?

Trade it in on anything but a Nissan with a CVT.
