What's a good deal/What are some common problems with this model?

Asked by ltdamato95 Aug 10, 2013 at 10:03 PM about the 1987 Nissan Pathfinder SE 4WD

Question type: Shopping & Pricing

This car is pretty old. I've found one with 95,000 miles on it for 5k cash. I'm curious as to how the 87' Pathfinder will stand to the test of time and what are some common issues that I should know about before buying it. Also is this a reasonable price and what should I offer for it? I haven't seen it in person yet, but from the pics it looks fairly mint.

To say that this Pathfinder is waaay overpriced is an understatement. Just out of curiousity, I checked www.edmunds.com. The OLDEST I could pick was a 1990 model and even though it's 3 years NEWER than the one you're looking at, the average Dealer selling price is around $1,400....and the one you're looking at is 3 years OLDER for $5,000? Hell NO...That's a really BAD deal. My advice: Avoid it and keep looking! Is this some Private Party Seller trying to get over on somebody??

I agree with Racer_X, definitely avoid this car and look for something cheaper
