camshaft actuator solenoid valve on 2012 chev equinox

Is an individual able to replace "camshaft actuator solenoid valve" on 2012 chev
equinox, or are there special tools, or does one have to remove a lot of
components to access solenoid valve?

I know several cases where these actuators fail due to lack of frequent oil changes. They must be getting gummed up. Maybe do a fresh oil change and drive it a while and see if it gets back to functioning. I think this problem causes the check engine light to come on.
