I am looking at a 2012 Mazda sport...no bells and whistles and the sticker price is 30,000. It has 438 miles and they have told me I can get it for $24,700. Is this a good price. This includes all incentivies

The dealer invoice is $21,084 for the Sport with all incentives KBB lists it at $19,200 certified pre-owned, I don't know if they can sell it as "new" with 438 miles, some salesman drove it home for a while or something, a demo, it has been on the lot for a year evidently. When they leave the sticker on at $30k they just want you to think you are getting a good deal at $24.7k You're not. Look around more I think you can get a better deal.

I used to sell these new from the dealership and to be honest $24,700 is a very competitive price for a brand new CX-9. I respect DavidH25's opinion tremendously but I have no idea where he's coming up with a figure of $19,200 for a 2012 CPO Mazda CX-9 sport. Even a 2011 with front wheel drive and literally every option removed--this means no AC, no, power windows, no radio--comes out at $21,119 on KBB. But theres good news for you in this case. The dealership has a problem. The car has 438 miles on it. It's still a 2012 and it has never been sold off the lot so it is technically new, but clearly its been driven. The fact that it has mileage in the triple digits and it has been in the dealership's inventory for a long time means you have room to negotiate. If it were me, I would print off the 5 or 10 examples of very comparable brand new CX-9s that are listed at a lower rate at dealerships around the country and then I would use the mileage and the time sitting on the lot as further leverage. I would try to get him down to $23,800 which is about as low as you can find this car in new condition, anywhere in the country. If he doesn't budge and you're not married to the car, certified pre-owned may just prove to be a better option anyway. You can pick up a 2012 with more options for under 23k, plus you'll get a warranty on the power train which will cover you up to 7years/100,000 miles.

a-c I stand corrected. I probably put the wrong model in. I believe you, my search was done without much to go on, not to make excuses. I guess I am. All I had was 2012 Sport and KBB gave me 9,362 options...just kidding but I think you get my point...I'll try to be more careful in the future

Yeah, that figure sounds more like it was for the smaller CX-7
