Defroster on high causes car to run rough and die

Asked by Steven Apr 27, 2016 at 11:39 PM about the 2003 Dodge Neon SE Sedan FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Several problems I'm having with my 2003 for
neon. 1st. If it's raining n there are puddles I go
through the car runs very rough n dies. 2nd starting
car in the morning sometimes will not start other
time it will. Is there a actual fuel filter separate
from the one in the tank? Do I need to change the
regulator on the tank?  3rd. I installed new plugs
but they are not platinum plugs, wires, coil pack,
battery. Replaced almost all of the vacuum hoses n
connectors. The car has been recently getting
stuck in low gear n not shifting properly. Planning
on trans fluid n filter change as well as new
platinum plugs next pay day. What are the best
plugs to use, Bosch or NGK platinum's?

Best plugs are what manufacturer recommends. Keep in mind sometimes changing fluid and filters in an already bad trans can make slipping worse. The material contaminating old fluid actually can make slippage less. Try this for 'miss' take a spray bottle of water and spray mist of water on different parts of engine at night. If there's shorting of wires, terminals, etc you may see it or be able to detect short as you spray mist on various components.
