2003 Dodge Stratus Coupe RT wont move.

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I am looking to buy a 2003 Dodge Stratus
Coupe R/T. Car runs great but is apparently
undriveable. When I asked why it doesnt
move this is the response I got..

it just doesnt go when put into gear,
sounds like chains are rumbling. Sorta like
you popped a chain on a bike but you get
that sound of the sprocket still moving with
the chain off of it. Idk how else to explain it.
It starts right up strong..

Im guessing bad trans? Any help or
suggestions appreciated!!!

yes the trans is shot! Stay away from that car. Trans will coast you 2500.00 to 3000.00 .

^^ The trans could be shot but i had a the same year dodge stratus and i thought my trans went when i had my mechanic look at & it was just the tranny chain that popped and i just had to replace that. But trannys range from 1k-1.5k depending on the size of the motor. Idk what ^ hes talking about. Labor is where they get you but if you know someone that can do it your set. My stratus lasted me a very very long time! Hope i helped you out. Feel free to write back
