Battery or alternater

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Every once in a while my car will not start but it will
start on a jump once it's jumped and I go
somewhere it will start all day long also as I drive
at nighty lights fade in and out

Sounds like the alternator or regulator. If the alternator is charging correctly, the lights will be bright the entire time the engine is running.
