overdrive button on gear shift

while i am driving my ford focus 2004 the button on the gearshift will flash on
my dash that says o/d off causeing the transmission to bog down or car
stream for a higher gear i can push it back in sometimes fixing the problem but
more often than not it require alot of attention while driving down the road

Did you get an answer for this, my daughter just called and hers is doing same thing

Yes I did get an answer it showed an apparatus that looked like something I had to plug in somewhere, o nly if the light keeps coming on. But you shouldntn drive it in o/D

I have a Ford Focus 2005 over drive off button light came on and I keep trying to press the button to turn it of and it doesn’t allow me

I have a 2005 Ford Focus ZX5 and, the green button is the o/d ( overdrive). It saves gas mileage apparently but it makes the car perform faster and light weight. Don’t use it on the highway or above 50 mph
