2002 Dodge Caravan Shut off/Won't Start. Clicking Noise?

Asked by Beymoor Feb 15, 2015 at 04:21 PM about the 2002 Dodge Caravan Sport FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

While driving my 2002 Dodge Caravan Sport, the battery light came on. Then all of the
warning lights. Then all of the gauges stopped working. The windshield lights suddenly
came on. The van began slowing down. Then all lights on dash and headlights shut
off, before van crawled to a stop. Attempts to restart it were unsuccessful; but I
noticed a 'clicking' noise. I opened the hood, and the noise continued - without the key
in the ignition or anything! The noise is coming from the side where the battery is, and
is constant.

I had it towed home; but don't want to pay more money to have it towed to a shop, and
not at least have an idea what's wrong with it. Any ideas?

Could be a relay for the engine shut down, this relay is next to your battery in a plastic box look under the inside cover for location sometimes the relay will go bad/or get hot, this will cause the engine to shut down, also try switching the relay around with a different one maybe for your AC this may solve your problem.
