2002 dodge caravan sport van stopped and smell gas

if it wet by / above the gas tank you can loosen the 2 straps to get to the pump / filter...its all plastic...just did mime . the hose where it meets pump was leaking tried to check it and cracked the output plastic fitting more..so i replaced both..it call for a spanner wrench to loosen the plastice lock hold down for the pumm...but with a good grip it will turn off...
