Can you check for coolant flow, anywhere? Usually you can take coolant hose loose, bump the starter, see if coolant comes out? Don't start it. If you opened coolant system, maybe there is air in the system? Are both radiator hoses hot, if no, maybe you need to flush the radiator? That 230 degrees, you got that from the temp gage on the dash? I'm a little cautious about trusting that gage, I realize that is probably all you have to go by.

I checked the upper radiator hose when I got home it was normal to me and had pressure to it looks like the level in the coolant tank went down so might be air in it still I’ll drive it tomorrow and check the lower hose for temp thanks for the response
Also, make sure you have the thermostat installed correctly. You'd be surprised how many people put them in upside down! Hope that helps! Jim
You indicate you changed the thermostat. Did you install one with the same heat range as the original? Personally, I only use motorcraft thermostats with the heat range specific to the engine and vehicle. Not knowing which engine you have, it is hard to check.
