My check engine light came on at 62000 miles on my 2012 Toyota Corolla today. I'm getting the oil changed this afternoon (overdue) do you think there is something else wrong with it?

The yellow check engine light or the smaller orange text 'maint req'? If you mean the yellow icon that resembles a motor, it has nothing to do with oil change, a fault has been detected by the OBDII system. So, yes, something else is wrong. First thing to do is check you gas cap. must be 3 -4 clicks tight and look at the rubber seal, not folded or crimped.Wipe the seal with a clean rag. A 2012 is too new to be deteriorated. If the CEL does not go off after a gas-cap is sealed. you need an OBDII scan to find out why it's on. Many autp-parts houses will do it free..but don't buy the first thing they say you need. Some of the guys know what they are doing...and others not so much. And electrical parts can not be returned, even if never installed. Get the codes and bring them back here first, one of us will be happy to assist you with the cause and solution. In the most economical way. Now, I don't know how much 'overdue' is, but friendly advice: it is imperative, absolutely critical you don't allow your car to run around with overdue oil changes. Your Corolla will take you around the equator 10 times -- with proper maintenance. And you must use 0W20 synthetic motor oil and a quality filter. Sorry if that sounded like a lecture. But I guess it was. No offense.
