You could have an air pocket in the cooling system, or a possible issue with the overflow tank for the radiator. It could also be a faulty cooling fan, sensor to the fan, or wiring issue.
Would you think it would be the water pump or water pump pully or the coolant cap

It could be the actual coolant level. Does the car have a coolant cap on the radiator itself, or is it on the overflow reservoir? If it is on the radiator itself, you can check the level of coolant from there. OBVIOUSLY do NOT open any coolant cap when it is HOT. the motor has to be cool. If the level is low, it will create an air pocket which will make the temperature fluctuate. If the water pump was bad, the coolant would not circulate and the car would overheat.
Yeah because it don't go all the way to hot but just go up a little then back to the middle, yes it does the overflow reservoir but it has coolant but it's been in there for a while & it haven't drop or anything

I have the same vehicle and had to take my car to a dealership to correct a recall on the sensor, and to repair a blockage. There was a leak between the coolant and the engine, so coolant was not getting to engine. I thought no leak because there was no liquid on the ground, not true there was a leak, coolant just fell on another part of the car.
