I lost the key to my bmw 740iL. 97'. Bmw wont allow me to get a
new key until i have registration. The problem with that is i bought
the car in OK and i live in KS so the car has to be inspected to be
registered. Catch 22. I cant get it inspected cuz i cant get inside the
car and cant get a new key cuz it cant be registered. Any ideas???

Can you contact the previous owner and get a copy of his registration? But I bet you have already thought of that.
My brother actually worked at a salvage yard and someone brought it in to be scrapped and ended up purchasing it so getting a hold of the previous owner is impossible. Also i live next door to a locksmith and they also will not get into the car without registration so thats a no go as well. Any other ideas?
Can you try an out of state BMW dealer. I wouldn't go into a long song and dance with one. Just ask if they can give you the key code if you give them the vin.
Maybe the place your brother works in can get a professional courtesy from a BMW dealer.
I have a bill of sale in my name and that doesnt matter to bmw. I am also registered with bmw as the cars owner but again without state registration, none of that matters and i still cant get a key or the code
Any other ideas out there???
Be patient and wait for what? I lost my key 6 months ago. I've been looking for a solution for that entire time.
