Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hello.  My 2013 Ford Escape yesterday went nuts.  It had been sitting for a day without
driving.  Went out in the morning and turned it on Service Engine warning came on.
After it went away the exclamation point light was on full time on the dash.  I tried to
drive it (was on my way to dr appt not very far) and it would not get any power, as if it
could not get enough RPMs to engage a higher gear, then would lurch a bit but would
not get moving.  At a light I put it in park and put my foot down on the accelerator and it
would only go up so far (and not smoothly) before losing power with what I can only
describe as the sound of a horse neighing.  I called the nearest dealer to let them know
I would try to get to them right after my appointment.  Came out after my appointment
and the alarms were all gone and the car drive fine.  Needless to say I took it in anyway
and they've had it for over a day.  So far the only thing they are saying is it is "a broken
wire".  I'm not getting a warm feeling about their diagnosis.  Can you shed light?  Any
ideas?

It's a warning to "Check Transaxle". A problem was detected and shifting may be limited and power loss.Have them keep you updated on the problem and ask what codes were set.

They just called and said they found a worn/chafed wire in the wiring bundle (I apologize, he had a name for it and I had trouble understanding him). Manufacturing defect, per the service manager.

That's great. Sounds like you have a dealer that knows what they're doing.
