2013 ford edge died while climbing out of the desert into the mountains. T

Asked by Scott Jun 27, 2020 at 03:56 PM about the 2013 Ford Edge SEL

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The RPM would rev out above 5000 rpm and then drop down to 2000 rpm,
could not drive the car faster than 40 mph with out the RPM going way up.
When I finally stopped the car it died, and I could not get it started and it
would not turn over but I have power. The engine light came on but no other
indicator came on.  The temperature on the car was a bit high but it never
overheated to my knowledge.  Turned off the AC and the car ran but every
time I started to go over 40 it would start to knock and the RPM would go
above 5000 rpm.  Dealer cannot figure out what the problem is.  Any
suggestions would be very helpful.  Can I get code from the car to help in the
diagnostics's?

You need to scan for codes. If you can drive it to an auto parts store they will scan for codes. Write them down and post them here. I suspect transmission problems.
