Ford Edge 2013 has lost power two times & AWD OFF sign comes on

My 2013 Ford Edge has lost power two times. The AWD OFF sign comes on,
there is no response to throttle. Fortunately, I have been going slow in very little
traffic at the time and was able to coast to the side of the road. I turned the car
off, then back on and it was OK to go again. Maintenance sign was also
appearing alternatively on dash board.
