Strange intermittent noise underneath vehicle

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I purchased a 2013 Explorer XLT last July and 3 months later, a strange
popping/rattling noise began one day...noise sounded like driving over fresh
asphalt paved highway with popping noise underneath. Shortly thereafter,
the popping noise stopped and a new noise, like a rattle, flapping, scraping
sound began and it continues even today. This noise is intermittent, with the
noise heard on driver's side, then it moves around the vehicle to rear and
back again to driver's side. It sounds almost like a metal scraping sound as
in the frame but 4 different garages and dealerships can't find anything
wrong.

So grateful for your help. Your answer sounds the most likely of any I have heard yet. And this area of the vehicle has not been checked by any of the garages/dealerships I have dealt with.

I have 2014 Explorer and it make the same noise. I notice when the vehicle is loaded with peoples then the noise is minnium. I look underneath of the car they have the welded cross bar on the frame to make the frame ridge. That where the sound come from. and if you listen closely it seem like the cross bar are stretching metal sound.
