Dashboard warning light come on while driving in Ran

Asked by memo33 Mar 25, 2016 at 11:09 AM about the 2013 Ford Explorer XLT

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I was driving in the heavy rain and the power steering got stiff and the all
the warning light came on. Stating the brake failure and battery low.

It happened 3 times while driving to work. I took to the dealer and they said
nothing was wrong with the car. They said it could have been the water
going into the alternator.

If you were going threw standing water & splashing threw, water may have gotten up on the serpentine belt causing it to slip. In which case the alternator and power steering would not work properly, and then the engine dying would cause the hard braking. Just let her dry out, see if this happens again during dry conditions.
