My 2013 Ford Explorer back camera only works some of the time. This problem started after my battery died. is there anything I can do to try to troubleshoot it myself before I bring it to a mechanic? Can I reset the computer somehow?

No you can not reset it yourself, you will need to take the car to a sealership and they will need to re-flash the ECM

You could try disconnecting the battery for a few minutes then reconnecting. Sometimes this will do a reset. Otherwise as COMETGUY said, it's off to the dealership.
