how long does a feul pump last on a car?

my car starts and shuts off, then about ten min later it starts

if fuel pump was bad car would not start check fuel filter & coil pak & crank censor.

Sounds like the fuel pump relay, located in the Integrated Power Module (aka underhood fuse box).
