2013 Escape air doesn't blow constant cold

Blows cold under 78 degrees ambient temp. Above that it starts out blowing cold then, apparently the compressor stops. Fan works fine. Tried recharging freon but it took very little and it didn't improve. Could there be a bad thermostat or some other part?

This happened to me but recharging Freon helped. 2009 Ford Escape Hybrid. However, I still have a Freon leak they can't find..
