2001 dodge dakota metal to metal

Asked by tim Mar 06, 2017 at 12:18 PM about the 2001 Dodge Dakota SLT Quad Cab RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I'm hearing a loud screeching that sounds like metal to
metal, I just got done changing my brakes. I lifted the truck
to see if I could rock the tire back and forth but I can't,
thinking it might be my wheel barring. The brake tabs are
fine. It is on a 2001 dodge dakota. Any suggestions?

Yes i did. Correction on my part the brakes are about two weeks old and it just started making this noise yesterday.

You need to inspect the brakes to know what is going on. This sounds like a safety issue so do it before you drive it again.

I haven't checked that. I've never checked them before any tips?

Reason I said diff as it can make metal to metal sounds as too can the drive shaft and wheel bearings. If its the new brake pads may can put some anti squeal brake lube on back sides or pads.
