Can I put tranny and axles from ram 1500 under a Dakota?

Question type: Car Customization
I have a 2001 Dakota with the 5.9L 360, 4x4. I also have a ram
1500 4x4 w/ 5.9L as well. I'd like to replace the tranny, axles and
suspension in the Dakota with the ones from the ram 1500. Is this
doable? I love this Dakota, its got all the speed and power I want,
but the axles and trannys keep going out. I'd like to beef it up

what year is the ram? that will help answer the tranny question. you would have to narrow the axles to fit the Dakota. the springs probably wouldn't fit.

The ram is a 96. The Dakota has torsion bars so I'd have to modify it to coil over anyway

The 1500 ram & Dakota axles are different widths, being the 1500 ram is wider. I guess it is possible if you don't mind it sticking out some, & I suspect the spring mounts won't line up either. Having it shortened would be expensive too. There is kits out the to put a 426 hemi in a Dakota & a pretty special mod.
