Question type: Car Customization
I have a 2001 dakota with a 4.7v8 but rod is
knocking. Can i put my 3.7l v6 from my 2004
dakota into it? Would i have to switch
trannys and more? Or would it be better to
find out what rods knocking and fix it

I'll say no, you would have to put more money in to adjust and make up in other areas and when done it will cost more rather then replacing.

Why not?? Other posts talk about putting in a 4.7 or 5.9 to a dakota where a 3.7 was. And if the years 2000-2004 are interchangeable bodies what would have to be adjusted? If i could go to the dealership and say i want this truck and choose a 3.7 or 4.7 but its the same truck. Should fit. And if i have the truck with the 3.7 i have the computer and anythi g else that would need changed with it. What elze would need changed? Maybe the conputer and transmission??
okay, car is like a body I have heart Transplant today would doc let me join rugby team Monday? if you think them doc no it all they dont, just enough to make you well. let's say you do the swap and 1 year later check lights other thing start to happen you wouldn't say,oh yea it was that big as$ modification I did last year let me remove to get it running back normal doc tell you body may reject it why risk it?

Ok.... honestly that last one made... NO SENsE whatsoever.... yes car is a body except. They are built the same. If this make and model and year is manufactured to hold either engine in it from the factory whichever you choose. Then shouldnt be a problem. I can use fhe coil packs from the 4.7 in my 3.7 and the 3.7 was made to replace the 4.7 and 3.9.. so its basically a 4.7 with two less cylinders. So basically it should hook to everything.and unlike the human body if a vehicle fits it doesnt reject it. I wont change coil packs and a year later be like. Oh its cuz the damn heart valves i replaced last year its rejectkng them now. No ghat would be cuz thw part itself is going bad. I want to know and want to risk it chz A the labor would be from me and would be fine and wofth it to me because ghe experience .and B i everything about the 2001 is better and in betger shape than my 2004 so i hate to use it for parts and scrap all fhe interior and frame and everything that is good. So itd be better to put a working engine in the 2001 and scrap the 2004. So if i have to change the tranny i have that as well i have everything that needs to hook up to the 3.7 but just wondering if i would have to change anything because from what im gathering chrysler made them alike and they can intefchange
ok, this will bring it home, one house stand, same house fall, can you asume that any house can be built on it?
Bentleydakota answered 7 years ago
Wtf?! Are you high?? Or just drunk? Or is it your english isnt so well because once again i cant make ANY sense out of that..... like... assume any houde can be built on WHAT??
see you only want to see it the way you want to, nice try, but please answer this question. one house stand, same house fall, can you asume that any house can be built on it? P.S cursing don't make you right Damn show won't get you out a jam.

What cursing?? And once again... why dont YOU annswer the DAMN question thats actually asked?? I literally cant understand what youre saying. Youre not "WISE" because you try speaking in fucking riddles and unrelated analogies. You must not know mechanics or you would answer making sense instead of talking about houses and heart surgery because mechanics is way different i can build a car from scratch and use cooper wheels on a chevy axle and a dodge frame with an engine from a ford( not that i would want anything from ford but its possible) . But all i want to know is whaf wohld need changed. You make no sense and yohre of no help. So.. the house that stood eventually falls? Can you build ontop of it? What?? I dont want to put my truck ontop of another truck or an engine on top of another engine. I want to extract and replace. Yes. If a house that stands falls down you can remove the rubble and put another one on the land where it was. So whats that analogy got to do with this??
notice your last reply was about 5 paragraphs to answer a simple question. so you can build once rubble removed, see that's the problem, you think this is as easy as 1, 2, 3. peanut butter and fuc $ing jelly boiled hot dog huh? well put that carp in and pray you don't kill a innocent person because of you stupidity.

More like macaroni and cheese. Filet mingon, shrimp scampi. Im a mf chef as well as mechanic and i can make something out of nothing. So dont be mad because you couldnt come up with a legitimate answer that made sense and pertained to the subject at hand. You have NO common sense, let alone mechanical sense. And a good day to you mam! No need for another response from you . So go post on a thread about comic con or something you know about internet troll!! The thread is open to any REAL answers from any REAL mechanics out there reading this. Thank you in advance!
if you get a reply no way in the world someone going to think that's good ideal, unless you said i want to kill myself and should i do it then you would get many yess but your in you 20s, your quick to reply how good you eat, man your so easily influence.
