WHY IS AN ADVERTISED CAR NOT IN STOCK YET?

i saw an auto advertised on carguru and sent the dealer an inquiry and was
told that specific car was not in stock yet? What does that mean... sounds like
fake bait to me

Perhaps the car is being shipped to the lot or is being inspected, repaired or detailed.

I REPONDED TO 4 SEPARATE ADVERTS, BUT HAVENT RECEIVED A REPLY FROM ANY OF THEM ... !!

I've hit a few bait and switch dealerships lately and it is very frustrating. They advertise a 'new' 2018 quite a bit below MSRP and then when you inquire they indicate that they sold that one and there aren't anymore. Of course, they want to upgrade you to a 2019. Isn't that illegal?
