Gas Pedal not responding right away Nissan Altima

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
I have a 2013 Nissan Altima s 4 cylinder, When I drive....
randomly my check engine light would come on for a few
days then shut off for a few days and back n forth also
randomly when I come to a stop at a light and it turns
green I hit the gas pedal could be soft or all the way down
doesn’t matter but the car won’t respond it’ll just roll
because my foots off the brake then maybe about 5
seconds later after holding the gas pedal down the car
would finally take off but I checked the code and it reads
P0101 Mass Air Flow Sensor so I went bought a new one
changed it and the check engine light is still on also I
would have to put the car in neutral and hold the gas
down a little so that the car doesn’t shut off also when it
does shut off on me and I go to start it I would have to
start it while holding the gas down if not it’ll shut off
immediately after starting........any ideas ??

Contacted a friend at the service department of the local Nissan dealership and he told me that it is possible that you are having a problem with the throttle position sensor, the actuator or an intermittent blockage of the exhaust system. The last could be the reason for the MAS code, check and make sure that the Mass Air Flow Sensor was installed correctly.
The MAF is installed correctly , would I need to replace any of those sensors ? Or just a clean ?
It will be necessary to check first to be sure if in fact one them is the cause for the problem, it does not make sense to replace parts that are working. The only part that can be cleaned is the throttle body located on top of the intake manifold. There are videos online that show you how to clean it, not difficult, I use carburetor cleaner and spray it well.

Check to see if your brake light is staying on. We are had a similar problem and it had to do with the brake. My car would kick in if I pushed on the break. I really think this is a defect. I pick my car up tomorrow I can give more details then.
I have the same exact problem. Did you guys figure out the solution? I did everything M4n_up did, and end up the samething. Can someone please help. Will this cover by Nissan's waranty since I only have about 90k miles.

Same thing is happening to my 2009 Altima. When i drive around 100 miles, the car wont accerelate past 50 mph. The RPMs shoot to like 4 to 5 and the car is not moving and at this point makes some sound on the engine like its straining. When am at stop red light, the car wont accerelate on green light while the gas pedal is all the way down. So unsafe situation. The cat apparently will run normally after overnight rest and the same cycle repeats itself.
Did anybody find out what happened? What was the diagnosis? For acceleration problems cause I have the same problem on my 2015 nissan altima. It wont accelerate and the only way it will if I step on the breaks real quick and it will start going
Well, Nissan hasn't done anything to fix the problem. I have a 2017 Altima SV and it is doing the same thing.
I have a 2013 altima and it was doing the same thing. I could be stopped at a light then when it's time to go I would be pressing the gas pedal and nothing would happen, then about 5 seconds later it would go. Also sometimes I would be driving and when I press the gas pedal to accelerate nothing would happen. My altima was still under warranty and when I bought it I took out an extended warranty for major parts and problems with a $100.00 deductible...this is a sign that a new transmission is needed! Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but my altima is doing the same thing again, and this will be my 3rd, yes you read right, my 3rd transmission! I am soo done with Nissan!
Also a friend of mine has a 2015 pathfinder and hers was doing the same thing...she also had to get a new transmission! This seems to be a major problem for Nissan so it seems like they would go back to the drawing board to straighten this out...it doesn't really matter to me what Nissan turns out or how good their vehicles look, I will never purchase another Nissan again, and I told them at the dealership!!! Also I traded in a Murano for the altima cause I had to replace the transmission in it! You live and learn!
I seem have to similar problem but without any engine light or code. Intermittently the car wont rev up when I press the pedal. Changed the air filter and made sure the sensor is fine but still ongoing problem. Not sure what to do next
